Breanna Bell Photography Gets a Makeover!

I’m so excited to introduce the new logo and updated website behind Breanna Bell Photography.  This was a big project on my 2018 to-do-list and I spent countless hours planning, crafting and curating content to make this launch possible.  And now I’m just pinching myself that launch day is officially here!

But I’m getting ahead of myself….let me backup a little bit….and tell you how I decided it was time to rebrand…

It’s the first redesign in almost 3 years, and I feel like I’ve jumped all over the place design-wise.  The evolution of my little photography business has been gradual – a learning and refining process for sure, and it all started back in 2009.  I was recently married and we had purchased our first fixer-upper home. Blogs were all the rage back then and I wanted to start one to document the progress of our renovation.  I remember thinking that I needed a better camera and after much research settled on the Canon XS. It was an entry level dslr camera (and let’s be real, all that I could afford on a broke newlyweds budget), but it did the job.  Friends and family eventually took notice on the gradual improvement of my photos and started asking if I would take their photos. I definitely wasn’t ready, nor qualified, but I was desperate for the experience and I took any little job or project that came my way.  I cringe now looking back at some of the posing, lighting, and god-awful editing styles I experimented with in the early years, but also I now understand that it was necessary. It was necessary for me to find out what worked, what I liked and ultimately, what brought me joy.  And we all start somewhere, right?! No one can claim to be a professional right out of the gate.  Gradually I updated my equipment, refined my skills and found that my passion was photographing faces (and not DIY projects).

Now tying it all back to how my rebrand is relevant today…

For the past year and a half I’ve been serious in setting goals for myself and actively strategizing on elevating the direction of Breanna Bell Photography.  I can honestly say that I now feel that I’ve finally found my niche and know exactly the type of clientele I want to serve: discerning individuals who are as passionate as I am about capturing ethereal and organic moments in this wonderful life and preserving them with stunning imagery.

But, to elevate my brand and attract my tribe, my current website and logo was not reflecting my aspirations.  To be honest, when I worked with a designer almost 3 years ago on the old brand I was initially so excited to hire someone that would evaluate my needs, assess my strengths and come up with a new and exciting look for Breanna Bell Photography.  However, I was bitterly disappointed with the results. To be fair, it wasn’t the designer’s fault. They took what I had and did their best, but at the end of the day our styles weren’t suited for one another and I was left with a logo and website that I didn’t absolutely love.   And as each day passed, I liked it less and less. It was disheartening, but I didn’t feel like I could do anything about it.

Fast forward to a year ago…

Armed with a renewed purpose and direction, I didn’t feel the need to hire a designer the second time around.  I knew exactly what I wanted and how I was going to achieve it. Most of the industry leaders I admire and follow online had touted the ease and sophistication of the website platform SHOWIT.  And after a free demo, I was hooked.  It was SO easy and customizable. They even migrated my website and blog from WordPress over to my new site for me!  Yay!

In conclusion, I couldn’t be more proud of how everything now truly reflects my style and is a more accurate representation of all that imagery swirling around in my head.  Being somewhat of an amaetur calligrapher, I knew I always wanted a logo that had that modern calligraphy look and I’m literally filled with joy everytime I look at my new logo. It’s me, 100%.

I feel like it’s taken me forever to get to where I wanted (and trust me, there are days where I feel like I’m still starting at the bottom of the mountain staring up all wide-eyed and overwhelmed), but I’m so pleased at how far I’ve come in my journey and I only can hope that I keep refining my craft more and more.

So, dear friends, I hope you love the new look as much as I do – and if you’ve been following along all these years, thank you for your support, your kindness and your trust in allowing me to document your precious moments!  Without further adieu, I introduce to you the new blog, website and branding behind Breanna Bell Photography! Please take a look around, explore, and let me know your thoughts!

Xoxo,

Breanna
